Można by rozsądnie założyć, że Jura produkowałaby torfową whisky. W końcu wyspa jest nim obficie pokryta. Została jednak zbudowana w latach 60. XX wieku przy wsparciu dużego blendera, Mackinlay, a w tamtym czasie potrzebna była lekka whisky. Jura zatem dostosowała się do wymogów rynku.
