Compass Box
Kurz über das Unternehmen
Compass Box is an independent blending house founded in London in 2000 by John Glaser, a former Johnnie Walker marketer. It owns no distillery and no warehouses, yet it redefined blended whisky, treating blending as the highest form of craft — its people call themselves "Whiskymakers".
The brand rests on three pillars: No Borders (combining malt and grain against regional dogma), bold experiments with oak, and total transparency — publishing the full "recipe" of every whisky. The last of these sparked a famous fight with the SWA over the right to list a blend's composition on the label.
The signature range
- Orchard House — a fruity blend (Linkwood, Clynelish): green apple, pear, honey.
- The Peat Monster — smoke from Laphroaig and Caol Ila: coastal, medicinal peat.
- The Spice Tree — rich and spiced, from heavy contact with French oak.
In 2024, after 24 years, John Glaser left the company and his protégé James Saxon took over the blending. Browse the full range in the Compass Box catalogue.
