The distillery in brief
Mars Shinshu Distillery, located in Miyada village, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, is one of the highest distilleries in Japan. It was originally established in 1985 by Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd. and is known for producing Mars Whisky. After a period of closure, it reopened and continues to produce Japanese single malt and blended whiskies.
Timeline
- 1985 Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd. established the Shinshu distillery in Miyada village, Nagano Prefecture.
- 1992 The distillery ceased production due to a decline in whisky demand.
- 2011 The Shinshu distillery resumed whisky production.
