Green Spot

Green Spot is a Single Pot Still Irish whiskey, historically bonded by the Dublin wine merchant Mitchell & Son (established 1805). It belongs to the "Spot" range, whose names come from the dabs of coloured paint once used to mark casks by age: Green Spot (no age statement), Yellow Spot (12 years), Red Spot (15) and Blue Spot (cask strength).

The whiskey is distilled at the Midleton distillery (Irish Distillers). After decades when Green Spot was a rarity sold almost only from the Mitchells' shop, the brand was relaunched with Irish Distillers and is now a pillar of the revived Single Pot Still category.

Style

Green Spot matures in ex-bourbon and sherry casks — brighter and fruitier than the heavily sherried Redbreast: green apple, honey, pot-still spice and a light oiliness.
